JOB SUMMARY:

This position helps COMTEX produce the highest quality linens to be delivered to over 40 area hospitals and more than 500 medical facilities. Our ideal candidate will consistently contribute to overall excellence that will meet or exceed customer expectations and team directives.
To transport and deliver healthcare laundry textiles to customers by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in the area and adhering to COMTEX policies and procedures. The truck driver will be responsible for driving to and from designated locations, verifying loads to shipping papers, maintaining record of duty status according to state and federal regulations, and performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
JOB DUTIES:
Loads vehicles on the clean side, secures carts in the truck and delivers them to Customers providing the proper paperwork and unloading procedure within the 15-minute plus or minus timeframe as required by the Customers.
Unloads vehicles in soiled sorting, scans and parks soiled linen carts to ensure a continuous flow of work through the soiled production area. Sprays down the inside of the truck as required.
Inspects trucks for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips and submits a written report on the condition of the truck at the end of each trip or tour of duty.
Drives truck to and from designated destination of up to 11 hours with a maximum of 14 hours total as DOT rules allow.
Reports all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company equipment to the Manager of Transportation.
Promptly report any delays to the Manager of Transportation due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions or other emergencies, or in the event of irregularities relating to the pickup or delivery of product.
Assists the Production Supervisor in maintaining a constant flow of product for processing.
Maintains proper license in good standing for the COMTEX vehicle that he/she is authorized to drive.
Works and drives consistent with the standards of safety and equipment that is established by COMTEX, the Manager of Transportation, Ohio Laws and COMTEX procedures.
Performs duties in a highly customer-oriented, friendly, courteous and professional manner.
Performs any other related duties as assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS / SPECIFICATIONS:
Three (3) years recent, related experience in a commercial or industrial laundry an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Semi drivers must provide proof of three (3) years experience in the type of vehicle they wish to drive. This experience must be within the last three (3) years.
Current three (3) year driving record from the BMV (Bureau of Motor Vehicles).
Provide a current Arrest Records Check, from local Sheriff or Police Department.
Pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Drivers may require a current HAZ-MAT (Hazardous Materials) endorsement or agree to obtain if requested.
Be able to lift up to 70 pounds, and be able to pass a DOT (Department of Transportation) physical if you are to drive a vehicle with a GVWR of more than 26,001 lbs.
Professional representation of COMTEX and the trucking industry thorough responsible driving, appearance and good interaction with customers.
Drivers must comply with all customers safety and delivery requirements.
Safe and timely transportation of product from origin to destination.
Semi Drivers must have a valid CDL license.
